There was a time in the not too distant past when African Americans literally put their lives
in danger to travel. A listing of places that offered safe accommodations known as
The Green Book, became their essential guide.
Now equipped with the NEW Green Book, a digital African-American travel directory,
TODAY'S BLACK TRAVELERS (TBT)visit places they have always dreamed of, places
they have never dreamed of, places they love to go andplaces they have never gone.
Sometimes by plane, cruise ship, or train, and often sporting a
shinning, brightly colored classic vintage automobile, our dynamic TBT team ventures on a course that takes them to a slave breeding farm in rural LOUISIANA, to the back roads of CALIFORNIA’S majestic Yosemite National Park riding the trails of the Black military rangers,
known as The Buffalo Soldiers, who patrolled this site in the early
1900s, and to many well-known and unknown places in between, near and far.
You will explore the rich heritage and sometimes painful stories
deeply embedded in the development of the lives of people
of African decent around the world. . .
In various destinations along the way, the TBT team is joined by a notable African-American hometown personality or celebrity who shares their unique insight of that city from their perspective.
Every episode, will be a learning experience about the lives and theworks of renowned Icons, Artists, Athletes, Scholars, Educators,Soldiers, Entertainers, Scientists, and Politicians, who are “children of the Motherland,” making your journey with TBT a TRIP OF A LIFETIME.
With more leisure time and more discretionary funds, TRAVEL is the new paradigm of freedom for most African-American Baby Boomers. This segment of the Black travel market often looks to explore their heritage, history and world connections. Many of these travelers greatly enjoy experiences that remind them of their youth.
TBT's journey will allow you to step back in time to get a glimpse of what life was like for early African-American settlers in historic Black townships and settlements in the U.S., while exploring the life and culture of Black cowboys. It will take you to the rain forest in the Outback of AUSTRALIA to sit in on an Ancient Aboriginal Tribal ceremony, and behind the stage of NEW YORK CITY’S famed Apollo Theater to learn about the performances of some of the true giants in genres of music from Blues, Doo-Wop, Rock, and Rap.
TRAVEL may be considered the apex of achievement for Gen Xers. This is the generation of African Americans whose parents were the first benefactors of the hard fought battle for equal rights in this country. They are often reminded of those struggles by their elders who came before them
making FAMILY a strong focus in their lives. Family Reunions are often at the core of their recurring travel plans.
Because of their education and exposure, Gen Xers are exploring the world in a way they were never able to before. These travelers often opt to take their children on experiences that introduce them to a higher economic standard of living to which they may not be accustomed, i.e., a cruise, a visit to a foreign country or a popular theme park.
Our TBT hosts will allow you to see exotic regions such as the Caribbean as you never have before; taking you to many places that are considered "playgrounds for the rich & famous," including an island in THE BAHAMAS where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his memorable “I have a dream” speech.
Among Black “Millennials” and those in "Generation Y " TRAVEL is considered somewhat of a “rite of passage” These young travelers share highlights of their journeys to far reaching places around the world through every conceivable social media platform. They are characteristically curious, independent and often travel in groups. This demographic is largely responsible for the formation of the growing number African American affinity travel clubs that stay connected through social media.
In a totally relatable way, our TBT hosts will introduce well traveled and the less experienced travelers in our viewing audience, to the best food, the coolest experiences, the richest history & culture, and the most fascinating people on the planet, providing them opportunities to further be enriched by culture, informed of heritage, and inspired by adventure.
